Register & Subscribe

As a member of The Reading Habit, you’ll have access to an extensive collection of books, allowing you to choose from popular children's series, authors, and titles across various categories and genres. While children love to read, purchasing books can be costly and can lead to storage challenges for parents. With The Reading Habit, you can say goodbye to these concerns and enjoy benefits of free delivery and pickup of books right from your doorstep with the convenience of selecting books that match your child’s preferences.

Step 1: Visit our website at www.thereadinghabit.in

Step 2: Click on Subscribe Now and register with us by filling out a simple form.

Step 3: Click on Browse Books and start exploring our vast collection of children's books through our search page.

Step 4: When you’re convinced that the books at The Reading Habit meet your child's reading needs, simply choose the appropriate subscription plan.

Step 5: Add books to your cart as per the plan and you’re all set!

The Reading Habit offers two types of plans – one for 6 books and the other for 12 books. Depending on your child’s requirement and your convenience, you may select a plan duration of 1 Month, 3 Months, 6 Months or 12 Months. The books can be exchanged within a window of 30 days. For e.g. if you select a 6-book, 3-month plan then you will be eligible to receive three 6-book shipments from us every 30 days within the 3-month period. Please refer to the Our Plans section for more details.

We currently support free book delivery in Bengaluru for select pin codes and plan to expand nationally soon.

The Reading Habit accepts online payments via UPI, Net Banking and Credit or Debit Cards. We do not accept cash on delivery payments.

Once you’ve returned the borrowed books, the subscription plan auto-closes. The security deposit is then refunded to you within 7 business days post receipt of last set of books.

Browse & Borrow

You can click on Browse Books which will take you to a simple page where can search for the book that you’re looking for by entering the book title or author. You can also look for books by selecting appropriate genres and themes.

If the book you wanted is part of The Reading Habit’s selection and is currently not available (as it may be borrowed by another member), please click on the Notify Me button near the book image. This way, we will be able to inform you as soon as the book is available. If the book you wanted to borrow is not part of the selection offered by The Reading Habit, please write to us at help@thereadinghabit.in and we will respond to you in case we’re able to procure the required book.

Once you’ve completed your registration and paid for the subscription plan of your choice, you can select books by clicking on the Add to Bag button near the book image. You can only borrow as many books as defined by the subscription plan type. For e.g. if you have chosen a 6-books plan, you will need to add 6 book titles to your bag before proceeding for check-out. Upon completing your selection, please click on the Check-Out button and Confirm your Order. You will receive an order confirmation message which means the books will reach your doorstep soon!

By clicking on the Heart button near a book’s image, you are adding that book to your Wish List. A wish-list is a list where you can keep track of books you like and plan to order in the future. You can view this list at any time in the My Account settings.

You can view your Borrowed Books history in the My Account settings.

Yes. We are happy to assist in anyway we can. Please write to us at help@thereadinghabit.in with your child’s age and interests. We’ll be happy to share book recommendations with you via email.

Yes. We firmly believe pre-loved books, as long as they’re in good condition, have a role to play in our endeavour to partner with parents in their child’s literary journey. You can click on the Donate Childrens’ Books option at the bottom of the website page to donate childrens’ books. We will write to you and get the books picked up from the given address as per your convenience.

Delivery and Pick-up

The books will reach you within 2-3 business days post order confirmation. The Reading Habit offers doorstep delivery only to the addresses registered with us.

No. The Reading Habit provides free books delivery and pick-up services to its members.

All the books placed in your order, as per plan type of 6 books or 12 books, will be delivered together in a single delivery.

The Reading Habit will notify you of next-day delivery on the day before the actual delivery. In case you would like to re-schedule the delivery, you can write to us help@thereadinghabit.in or call us on +917738632484

Ideally, this should not happen. But in case such an event occurs, we request you to write to us at help@thereadinghabit.in and we will resolve the issue.

You can order your next set of books within a 30-day window starting from the date of delivery of your previous order. The Reading Habit will send you a notification a few days prior to your next order date.

When it’s time to exchange books, you can select Return Books on the website (also available in My Account settings). You can choose to exchange all books or retain some while exchanging others by simply clicking on the Return or Retain options next to the book image. For e.g., if you want to return five of the six books that you’d borrowed and retain one book into the next month, you may choose to do so by clicking Return for the first 5 books and selecting Retain for the sixth book. You will then be prompted to add 5 more books for your next order. Please note that your next books order cannot be initiated without completion of the Return/Retain books process.

The Reading Habit provides free books delivery and pick-up services to its members. The books to be returned will be exchanged at your doorstep when you receive the new books for the week, via the same delivery person. In the event that the delivery service is unable to provide delivery and pick-up services together, the services will be split between two delivery personnel with the pick-up service taking place first.

If you lose a book, you may choose to replace it with a new book (same title) or pay a penalty equal to the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of the book. Please note that if the book is not readily available in India, we will then need to source the book from abroad and the determination of the market price will be based on USD currency converted to INR. The determination of a book being “readily available” will be at the sole discretion of The Reading Habit. As soon as a book is physically returned to the library store-room, it will be checked for any damage and reported to the member accordingly. A penalty amount will be levied depending on the nature of damage – If the book is majorly damaged - 100% Market price of the book If the book has minor damages - 50% Market price of the book
